books I read this month

Books I Read in May 2024

Under the Bridge: The True Story of the Murder of Reena Virk by Rebecca Godfrey (the way she talked about the boys in the case made me uncomfortable)

The Party by Nora Valters (wild ride)

The Resort by Sara Ochs (ok)

My Life in Recipes: Food, Family, and Memories by Joan Nathan (eh)

Now You Know by Nora Valters (another wild ride, easy to follow as an audiobook)

The Framed Women of Ardemore House by Brandy Schillace (cute)

The Last Word by Elly Griffiths (I don’t know why seem to be hiding that is related to three other books)

Real Americans by Rachel Khong (solid but I liked one of the three narrators much more than other two)

The Killing House by Claire McGowan (good)

Days of Wonder by Caroline Leavitt (thoughts)

Her Biggest Fan by Nora Valters (a cute twist on the famous person stalking book)

There Was an Old Woman by Hallie Ephron (good but too close to home!)

Brooklyn Kills Me by Emily Schultz (thoughts)

Worry by Alexandra Tanner (ok but a little squalid)

The Exvangelicals: Loving, Living, and Leaving the White Evangelical Church by Sarah McCammon (disappointing)

Hard Copy by Fien Veldman with Hester Velmans (Translator) (fun)

Tell Me Who You Are by Louisa Luna (not bad)

The Year of Less: How I Stopped Shopping, Gave Away My Belongings, and Discovered Life Is Worth More Than Anything You Can Buy in a Store by Cait Flanders (interesting)

The Missing Hours by Julia Dahl (ok)

Man’s Best Friend by Alana B. Lytle (the dog aspect was under or overdeveloped, I can’t decide)

The Plus One by S.C. Lalli (ok)

Dearest by Jacquie Walters (good)

Gone Tonight by Sarah Pekkanen (ok)

Private Equity: A Memoir by Carrie Sun (interesting and frustrating, her parents and relationships were hard to read about)

The Woman on the Ledge by Ruth Mancini (unexpected medical issue)

When We Were Silent by Fiona McPhillips (ok but the modern day stuff was undeveloped and unneeded)

I Hope This Finds You Well by Natalie Sue (cute)

A Share in Death by Deborah Crombie (ok, weird to start a series where a police officer is on holiday and the other main character is barely in it)

All Shall Be Well by Deborah Crombie (ok, unexpected illness plot line)

Two Dead Wives  by Adele Parks (I didn’t realize this was a sequel? Then tried the first and it was even more poorly written)

One Perfect Couple by Ruth Ware (fun)

Truth Truth Lie by Claire McGowan (fun)

Leave the Grave Green by Deborah Crombie (ok)

Knife River by Justine Champine (good, more of a story about sisters than a mystery)
