books I read this month

Books I Read October 2024

Dead Lions by Mick Herron (fine)

Eden Undone: A True Story of Sex, Murder, and Utopia at the Dawn of World War II by Abbott Kahler (a little slow but interesting)

The List by Mick Herron (fine)

The Sequel by Jean Hanff Korelitz (fun)

Rip Tide by Colleen McKeegan (had promise but didn’t deliver)

Me vs Brain: An Overthinker’s Guide to Life by

Hayley Morris (cute but I don’t think it needed the self help bits)

The Most by Jessica Anthony (solid)

Real Tigers by Mick Herron (solid)

Will End in Fire by Nicole Bokat (slow!! Why did everyone refer to themselves as “gen-z”?)

This Cursed House by Del Sandeen (Interesting idea but very slow and repetitive at times.

The theme of “forgiveness sets us free” was disturbing as most of the characters in this book were monstrous, murderous and maiming. The characters all sounded alike and were underdeveloped.)

From Here to the Great Unknown by Lisa Marie Presley with Riley Keough (sad)

Spook Street by Mick Herron (solid)

Deep Water by Emma Bamford (a little odd)

This is Amiko, Do You Copy?
By Natsuko Imamura with Hitomi Yoshio (Translator) (ok)

What I Ate in One Year (and related thoughts) by Stanley Tucci (really weird, gross snide remarks about his wife)

Be Ready When the Luck Happens by Ina Garten (a little uneven towards the end)

Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister (fun)

Sweetpea by C.J. Skuse (try-hard)

I’ll Be Waiting by Kelley Armstrong (fun idea)

London Rules by Mick Herron (solid)

The Marylebone Drop by Mick Herron (solid)

Winter in Sokcho by Elisa Shua Dusapin with Aneesa Abbas Higgins (Translator) (ok)

Good Husbands by Cate Ray (slow)
