books I read this month

What I Read in February 2023

This was one of the slowest reading months I think I’ve had in years! I can’t pinpoint why, but several books took a long time to get through, even if I enjoyed them.

Exiles by Jane Harper (excellent)

Maame by Jessica George (good but not the standout I was expecting)

The Wife Before by Shanora Williams (bad retelling of Rebecca)

How to Knit: Learn the Basic Stitches and Techniques by Leslie Ann Bestor (helpful, counting this because I read it cover to cover)

The Survivalists
by Kashana Cauley (reviewed here)

The Truth About Melody Browne by Lisa Jewell (you can really see her transitioning from general fiction to thriller/mystery/suspense here)

Becoming Free Indeed: My Story of Disentangling Faith from Fear by Jinger Duggar Vuolo with Corey Williams (I do not know much about the Duggars but this book was basically her condemning the church she grew up in bit by bit)

Stone Cold Fox by Rachel Koller Croft (not bad but sort of seedy at points in a weird way?)

A Good House for Children
by Kate Collins (very good! Poor Orla thinking she wasn’t good enough for her horrible husband)

I Hope This Finds You Well: Poems by Kate Baer (okay, I swear one poem use a word that wasn’t in the original text)

I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai (excellent!)
